Overview
Cannon Trading is a US futures broker based in Los Angeles that's been around since 1988. It works as an independent introducing broker, which means it handles your account and support while one of several clearing firms holds the money. It suits futures traders who want a wide pick of platforms and like having a real broker on the phone. Cannon is registered with the CFTC and is a member of the NFA.
Accounts and costs
You can open a self-directed account with as little as $1,000 if you stick to micro contracts. Cannon suggests $2,500 for day trading other futures, $5,000 for swing trading and $10,000 or more for option selling. Day-trading margins start at $500 per E-mini and $50 per Micro.
Commission isn't a single published number. It depends on your account size, volume and platform, with rates as low as $0.18 per side for the busiest traders, discounts above 250 contracts a month, and an offer to match or beat what you pay elsewhere. Exchange fees of $0.60 to $1.90 per side, NFA fees and any software fees come on top. There are also broker-assisted and managed accounts.
Platforms and markets
Cannon offers over 10 platforms. Its own free options are CannonX, powered by CQG, and CannonPro, and you can also connect TradingView, Sierra Chart, Rithmic, Quantower and others with the same login. Free demos are available. Markets cover futures and options on futures across the CME Group, ICE and Eurex, including stock indices, energies, metals, agriculture and currencies.
Money in and out
Funding is by bank wire, and Cannon accepts international wires. Withdrawals are wired back to your bank.

What traders say
Scores from the sites traders use, and our summary of what they're saying, checked 6 October 2026.
Cannon Trading, a Los Angeles futures broker founded in 1988, has an almost entirely positive record on Trustpilot: 4.9 from about 560 reviews. Outside Trustpilot the evidence is thin. The Better Business Bureau lists it as accredited and shows positive reviews, and a handful of forum threads on Elite Trader and Reddit are mixed but mostly about how the account is set up. The broker promotes its Trustpilot score heavily on its own blog, which is worth keeping in mind when weighing the reviews.
What traders like
A named broker who picks up the phone. The most common praise is for personal service: reviewers name individual brokers who helped them, and some say they would choose that relationship over cheaper commissions.
Hands-on platform setup. Several reviewers say staff remoted into their machine to configure platforms and answered technical questions patiently, which new futures traders value.
Platform choice and low day-trading margins. Elite Trader users like being able to use their preferred platform, such as Sierra Chart, and the low intraday margins.
Common complaints
Confusing account structure. Reddit and Elite Trader users say it is not obvious that accounts are cleared through partner firms such as Ironbeam, and that this affects platform options, TradingView access, margins and fees.
Slow withdrawals and platform issues. An older Elite Trader post describes a withdrawal that took over two weeks and a poor platform combination. A broker-review aggregator also lists withdrawal delays and platform stability among complaints, without detail.
A few disputes. One review on a smaller review site alleges trades the reviewer did not recognise. These are rare against the volume of praise.
