Overview

moomoo is a trading app from Futu, a group backed by Tencent and Sequoia, built for active stock and options traders who want serious data without paying for it. In the US the brokerage side is Moomoo Financial Inc., registered with the SEC and a FINRA and SIPC member. The same app runs through separate local companies regulated by MAS in Singapore, ASIC in Australia, CIRO in Canada and the Securities Commission in Malaysia, so what you can trade and what it costs depends on where you live.

Accounts and costs

In the US you open an individual cash or margin account with no minimum. Stocks, ETFs and options cost $0 in commission for US residents, though regulatory and exchange fees still apply. Margin trading starts at $2,500 and the margin rate is a flat 6.8%. There's no inactivity fee, but domestic wire withdrawals cost $25, international ones $45, and moving your account to another broker costs $75.

Platforms and markets

You trade on the moomoo mobile app or the moomoo Desktop workspace, both with free Level 2 data, 100+ indicators and 13 options strategies. US, Singapore and Malaysia clients can link their account to TradingView and trade from the chart. There's paper trading for practice and an API for building your own strategies. US clients get stocks, ETFs, options and futures, plus 50+ cryptos through Moomoo Crypto Inc., which isn't covered by SIPC. Forex, bonds and CFDs aren't part of the US offer.

Money in and out

US accounts fund by ACH, Instant Transfer or wire, and Apple Pay and Google Pay also work. ACH is free. There are no cards or e-wallets, and withdrawals go back to your bank by ACH or wire.

What traders say

Scores from the sites traders use, and our summary of what they're saying, checked 6 October 2026.

Moomoo divides opinion more than most brokers: people like the tools and dislike the service. Its main Trustpilot page has about 570 reviews, and Investopedia described them in late 2025 as a near even split between five stars and one star, averaging 2.6; the current score is not in the evidence we collected. Sitejabber has only four reviews, at 1.3. TradingView reviews are mostly positive, and Reddit has plenty of threads on both sides. Forex Peace Army and the Better Business Bureau also have pages.

What traders like

  • Tools and data. Many reviewers on Trustpilot, TradingView and Reddit praise the charting, free Level 2 data, screeners and options tools, and some say moomoo gives more depth than Robinhood or Webull.

  • Low costs. Commission-free US stock and options trading, and low fees in Australia, come up often.

  • Reliable platform. Several reviewers say the mobile and desktop apps are fast and stable.

  • Promotions. Some users like the sign-up and deposit bonuses.

Common complaints

  • Customer service. Trustpilot's own summary says reviewers are very unhappy with support, and Reddit users in Australia and Canada say the same.

  • Withdrawals. Several reviewers describe withdrawals blocked, held for review, or showing zero available, sometimes after a currency conversion. Malaysian users on Reddit say staff phoned them with offers not to withdraw. BBB complaints include blocked withdrawals and disputed transfers.

  • Crowded app. A common view is that the app is cluttered, carries ads and is hard for beginners.

  • Options costs and margin. Some options traders say multi-leg trades are charged high margin, and outside the US the per-contract fees feel steep.

  • Bonus terms. Some Reddit users call the bonuses gimmicky and hard to collect.

  • Regional setups. Canadian reviewers say the account runs on top of Interactive Brokers, and Australian reviewers question how CHESS sponsorship works.

Recently

  • September to October 2026: recent Trustpilot reviews stay mixed, with praise for options tools alongside complaints about clutter, ads and withdrawals delayed after converting currency.
