Overview

OKX is one of the big global crypto exchanges, running since 2017, and it covers everything from buying your first Bitcoin to trading perpetual swaps with high leverage. It suits active crypto traders who want deep liquidity, derivatives and good tools. Which OKX entity you sign up with depends on where you live. In Europe it's OKX Europe Limited, which holds a MiCA licence from the Malta Financial Services Authority, with a separate Malta investment firm for crypto futures. There's an ASIC-licensed Australian arm, a VARA licence in Dubai, US money transmitter licences under OKX INC. and a registration in El Salvador.

Accounts and costs

There's no real minimum to get started, and trades can be as small as about $1. Spot fees start at 0.10% for maker and taker, dropping as your 30-day volume grows or if you hold OKB. Margin trading goes up to 10x, and BTC and ETH perpetuals reach 125x on the global platform. Singapore users are capped at 50x, and UK retail users can't trade derivatives at all. Managed sub-accounts let a trading team run money for clients.

Platforms and markets

You trade on the OKX website and app, or connect your account to TradingView and trade from the charts, with a free TradingView Plus offer for new users. There's demo trading, copy trading, trading bots and an API. Markets cover hundreds of cryptocurrencies across spot, margin, perpetual swaps, expiry futures and options.

Money in and out

Crypto deposits are free, and you pay a network-based fee when you withdraw, which varies by token. Cash deposits and withdrawals depend on your country and can include bank transfers, debit and credit cards, and P2P trading with local payment methods. Payment providers may take their own fee.

What traders say

Scores from the sites traders use, and our summary of what they're saying, checked 6 October 2026.

OKX, a large crypto exchange, scores poorly on open review sites: 2.3 on Trustpilot from about 1,650 reviews, 2.2 on Sitejabber from about 175 and 2.7 on SmartCustomer from about 170. The Trustpilot ratings are split rather than middling, with most reviewers giving either one star or five. Users who connect OKX to TradingView are generally kinder, and the app stores are higher still according to Coin Bureau. Nearly all the anger concerns frozen accounts and withdrawals, not the trading itself.

What traders like

  • Fast, capable platform. Many reviewers call the app quick and stable in volatile markets, with deep liquidity and a wide coin list.

  • Low fees. A frequent point on Trustpilot, Capterra and TradingView.

  • TradingView integration. Several TradingView users call it one of the smoothest broker links on the platform.

  • Extras. Separate spot and futures margin, the Web3 wallet, bots and copy trading all get praise.

Common complaints

  • Accounts restricted, funds held. The dominant theme on Trustpilot, Sitejabber, G2 and Reddit: accounts frozen after a large transaction or a compliance review, with requests for source-of-funds documents, sometimes repeatedly, and money out of reach for weeks or months.

  • Generic support. Many say replies are automated or scripted and do not move a case forward. One TradingView reviewer says the issue was only fixed after a public complaint.

  • Promotions and P2P disputes. Several Trustpilot reviewers say promised cashbacks or bonuses were refused on technicalities, and some describe P2P trades settled against them.

  • Regional exits. A few say their accounts were closed when OKX stopped serving their country.

  • Fake recovery services. Sitejabber and SmartCustomer pages carry many posts advertising fund recovery, which are scams in their own right and not reviews of OKX.

Recently

  • August 2026: Trustpilot reviews from mid-August describe a second account restriction for source-of-funds checks, a refused promotional reward, and long waits for support. Positive reviews from the same weeks praise the interface and fees.
