Overview
Trade Republic is a German neobroker that's grown into a full bank. It's built for long-term investors in Europe who want to buy stocks and ETFs cheaply from their phone, run savings plans and earn interest on spare cash. The company is Trade Republic Bank GmbH in Berlin, founded in 2015 and supervised by BaFin and the Bundesbank. It also holds a MiCA licence from BaFin for its crypto service.
Accounts and costs
There's one account that combines investing, saving and a current account with a debit card. You don't need a minimum, and you can start investing from €1. Most trades cost a flat €1 with Best Price execution, where Trade Republic compares quotes across several exchanges and fills you at the best one. If you'd like to pick the exchange yourself, Direct Price costs €2 per order. Savings plans are free, and there are no account or inactivity fees. Cash sitting in the account earns interest and is covered by the German deposit guarantee up to €100,000.
Platforms and markets
Everything runs through the Trade Republic app on iOS and Android, plus a browser version. There's no desktop platform, no MetaTrader and no API. You can buy thousands of stocks, a big range of ETFs, bonds and over 50 cryptocurrencies, along with warrants and knock-outs in some countries. Fractional shares are available on many stocks and ETFs. There are no CFDs, forex, futures or margin, so it's not one for active leveraged traders.
Money in and out
Bank transfers in are free. Your first card, Apple Pay or Google Pay deposit is free, then later ones carry a small fee. Withdrawals to your bank are free and usually arrive in about two days. ATM withdrawals under €100 cost €1.

What traders say
Scores from the sites traders use, and our summary of what they're saying, checked 6 October 2026.
Trade Republic's ratings depend heavily on where and when you look. Trustpilot now shows 4.6 from about 60,000 reviews, up from 3.7 on about 36,000 in June 2026, and the page notes that the company invites customers to review. Reviews.io sits at 1.24 from about 650, though much of that page reads like unrelated recovery-service posts. Reddit is the most balanced source: people like the app and the cash interest, and most of the anger is about support once something goes wrong.
What traders like
Low cost. A flat €1 per trade and free savings plans come up again and again, especially for monthly ETF investing.
Interest on cash. Many users mention the interest paid on uninvested cash and the card cashback.
A simple app. Reviewers call it quick to sign up for and easy to use for buying and holding.
Withdrawals that work for most. Several Irish and German forum users say transfers out arrive within a working day.
Common complaints
Support that is hard to reach. By far the most common complaint: chatbot loops, copy-paste replies and long waits, with some saying they sent dozens of messages without an answer.
Withdrawals and transfers held up. A recurring minority on Reddit and PissedConsumer describe withdrawals blocked or taking up to two weeks, often tied to account checks.
Hacked accounts. Some Reddit users warn that customers whose accounts are drained by fraud struggle to get money back.
Not built for active traders. Reviewers note the lack of charting tools, joint accounts and some international markets.
Tax reporting errors. A few users outside Germany report wrong capital gains figures on their statements.
Recently
June to October 2026: the Trustpilot score climbed from 3.7 to 4.6 while the review count rose by roughly 24,000, a period when the company was inviting customers to review. Complaints in that window still centre on support and transfers.
Where this comes from
Trustpilot: the main review page, the biggest pool of reviews.
Reviews.io: a smaller, mostly negative pool.
PissedConsumer: customer complaints.
Reddit: a thread weighing the praise against the complaints.
