Overview

FTMO has run evaluations out of Prague since 2015. On the CFD side you trade forex, indices, commodities, crypto and stocks on MT4, MT5, cTrader or TradingView. A newer futures arm runs on Tradovate, NinjaTrader and TradingView. It suits traders who want a long track record and a well-documented rulebook.

How the evaluation works

  • FTMO Challenge 2-Step: 10% in the Challenge, then 5% in the Verification. Daily loss is 5% and overall loss is 10%, both fixed to the starting balance. Minimum 4 trading days per phase.

  • FTMO Challenge 1-Step: one 10% target with a 3% daily loss. The 10% max loss trails your highest end-of-day balance until it reaches the starting balance.

  • FTMO Futures Growth and Pro: a monthly subscription with a 6% target and an end-of-day trailing drawdown that locks at the starting balance. Growth has no daily loss limit in the evaluation. Pro has a hard one.

Rules worth knowing

There's no time limit on any phase. On the 1-Step, your best day can't be more than 50% of your positive days' profit, both to pass and to withdraw. Standard accounts get news, overnight and weekend restrictions once you're funded, not during the evaluation. The Swing type removes them, but it's 2-Step only and capped at 1:30 leverage. To pass a futures evaluation, your best day can't exceed 40% (Growth) or 50% (Pro) of total profit.

Getting paid

You can claim your first reward from day 14 after your first trade. The 2-Step pays 80%, rising to 90% through the Scaling Plan, and refunds the fee with the first reward. The 1-Step pays 90% with no refund. Futures pays 90%, capped per request. CFD rewards go by bank wire, crypto, Skrill or card. Futures adds Wise and Revolut.

What traders say

Scores from the sites traders use, and our summary of what they're saying, checked 6 October 2026.

Most traders who review FTMO say they got paid, and paid quickly. It holds 4.8 on Trustpilot from about 54,000 reviews, 4.5 on Prop Firm Match from about 210 verified traders and 4.4 on Forex Peace Army. The complaints that do show up are mostly about rule enforcement: accounts closed for things the trader didn't think broke a rule, or losses that ran past a limit because of slippage or wide spreads.

What traders like

  • Payouts arrive fast. Lots of reviewers say their reward came through within a day or so of requesting it, and that the challenge fee was refunded with the first one on the 2-Step.

  • Clear rules. People often say they knew where they stood, and that the dashboard makes the limits easy to track.

  • Support that answers. Live chat and email get frequent praise for quick, helpful replies in several languages.

  • A long track record. Many pick FTMO for its history of paying out since 2015.

Common complaints

  • Account closures people dispute. A steady share of low reviews come from traders whose accounts were closed over hedging across accounts, one-sided trading or similar strategy rules, and who feel the call was subjective.

  • Slippage and spreads. Some say a stop filled well past its level, or a rollover spread spike took them over a loss limit.

  • The 1% risk limit after a first payout. Some traders say a payout was held back because slippage pushed a single loss just past that cap.

  • Slower support when it matters. A few say replies got thin once a dispute started.

Recently

  • August 2026: FTMO Futures opened in beta on 31 August, billed monthly. It has no review history of its own yet, and a few September and October reviewers grumble about paying subscription and reset fees on a beta product.

  • September to October 2026: low reviews cluster on disputed closures and on overnight spreads on Swing accounts. The overall score hasn't moved.
